3.2Kw Solar Install at UPEI School of Sustainable Design Engineering
March 31, 2017
M.B. Eye Electrical is proud to be the chosen partner of the University of Prince Edward Island solar energy project this spring. Working with the team of forward thinking students at staff at the Engineering Department was an excellent experience. This 3.2Kw system was an initiative of fourth year and graduating student, Andrew Simmons. The system generates some energy for the school and also serves as a continual education component to the program.
These students are paving the way for tomorrow's generation of sustainable engineers and we enjoyed seeing their creativity and enthusiasm for new energy resources. For more about the School of Sustainable Design, visit www.upei.ca/engineering.
1.5Kw Solar Installation at Eliot River Elementary | Cornwall, PE
March 13, 2017
Despite some very cold spring temperatures, our team installed the first six panels of the new solar array at Eliot River Elementary School today. This is the first school in Prince Edward Island to incorporate solar energy as an educational component to students. Through creative initiatives in their school and community, members of the Environmental Club worked alongside all the students and staff to earn the funds to make two sustainable initiatives a reality. One of those was this solar array, and another was an LED lighting retrofit for the main school lobby.
Students and staff will continue to raise funds through recycling along with a campaign to collect plastic shopping bags in hopes of adding another 1.5Kw of solar, and more LED lighting for the new library and the gymnasium. Congratulations to this crew of students and staff.
